Marvin Gabaldon is a professional bead work artist from the pueblos of Acoma, Taos and Ohkay Owingeh–where he grew up. He has been beading for over 40 years, a skill he was originally taught by his mother and has honed into beautiful artwork. He enjoys beading in Peyote Stitch, Applique, Lazy Stitch, and beading on the loom. Marvin also loves teaching and his passion is teaching those who are interested in this art form, no matter their age or skill level.
His designs are Pueblo symbols and universal native designs of old that are interpreted into his view of them. After many years he no longer draws patterns or designs and his colors choices are always different, making his pieces unique and one of a kind. Marvin has participated in Native American art shows all over the country including: The Heard Show (Phoenix, AZ), Santa Fe Indian Market (Santa Fe, NM), Native Treasures (Santa FE, NM), Smithsonian: Museum of the American Indian (Washington, DC) and the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum Fall Art Show (Big Cypress, Fl), to name a few. He has also shared his craft through demonstrations at the Wheelwright Museum (Santa Fe, NM), Poeh Cultural Center (Pojoaque, NM) and Dining with the Artist-Hotel Santa Fe (Santa Fe, NM).
